Australia is well known for its’ never ending Coast Line and beach views. The best part about the beach is that you can swim with the fish! Snorkelling is the perfect way to enjoy the Australian Oceans as well as gain knowledge and awareness about the current state of the marine life.

Here are just a few of the best places to snorkel in Australia:

Cairns, QLD

This is an obvious one. The Great Barrier Reef is located off the coast of Cairns and has some incredible marine life.

Ningaloo Reef, WA

The best part about Ningaloo Reef, is you can walk directly to the reef from the beach on the north-west cape. You can also often find whale sharks visiting this area.

Coastal Walk, NSW

The Coastal Walk isn’t filled with amazing reef and marine life, but it is a much calmer way to snorkel. Sydney has pools, which are filled with ocean life and several species of fish. If it’s your first time snorkelling and you want to start small, this is a great way to do it!

Lord Howe Island, NSW

Lord Howe Island is the most southerly coral reef in the world! It has over 500 species of fish and 90 species of coral. To make things even better, Lord Howe Island has underwater volcanoes and trenches!

Shoalwater Island Marine Park, WA

This area is pretty cool because you can often spot penguins, dolphins, and even sea lions while you snorkel!

Make sure to enjoy at least one snorkelling trip while you’re in Australia. If you go somewhere different, tell us about your snorkel adventure we would love to hear about it!
