START DATES and lead time

Interns can choose their preferred start dates; however, we recommend allowing a lead time of approximately 6 to 8 months to ensure a smooth process.

If you're applying for a 407 Training Visa, please note that visa processing times are determined by the Department of Home Affairs and are beyond our control. This time is in addition to the preparation period mentioned above.

For candidates who already hold a valid visa (such as a Working Holiday Visa), the process may be quicker — but we still recommend starting early to allow enough time for interview arrangements and host confirmation.

Planning ahead gives you the best chance of securing a meaningful internship experience!

How it works?

  1. Enquiry and Assessment:
Complete the online form and submit initial documentation to find out whether you are eligible for the program.

  2. Application & Processing:
Eligible candidates will be requested to complete and return the application form along with the supporting documents and application fee. You will then provide us an application video after which Australian Internships will negotiate your internship details.

  3. Confirmation & Payment
Australian Internships will arrange an interview for you with the Host Organisation after which the internship will be confirmed through a formal Training Agreement. Any outstanding fees to be paid.

  4. Visa & Travel Arrangements
Australian Internships to negotiate with The Department of Home Affairs regarding visa processing for you. Or, you can make alternative arrangements (e.g. Working Holiday Visa). You are to confirm with Australian Internships your arrival details.

  5. Program Participation
Congratulations! You are about to embark on an incredible journey. You will have an orientation when you arrive in the Pacific Islands. Once you begin your internship we will be asking for your continued feedback and continue to provide you with support.
