It might be challenging to keep the motivation to attend your school or university activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Switching face to face instructions to online learning can be quite disturbing and some level of flexibility is required. We have prepared some tips to help you stay motivated in your online classes:

1.      Start the day motivated

Take a shower, get dressed, and have breakfast as you would in a normal school day. Keeping your morning habits will help you keep on track and maintain your motivation.  Make sure you find a quiet and comfortable place to attend your online classes and stick to the schedule.

2.      Planning activities and managing time

Due to the high number of assignments and exams, set up a planner or even a to-do list is highly recommended for every student, whether they are online or traditional students. It will help you to keep everything on track.

You do not need large amounts of time to be productive. Instead, try to be intentional and focused on short blocks where you can work without interruption.

3.      Give yourself breaks

Assignments, exams, staying up all night, and use too much a computer can become tiring. That’s why you should give yourself a break. Try to go on a walk or stop for a cup of tea after completing an exam or essay. Do not overwork yourself because you can lose determination and leave many activities unfinished.

4.      Try a virtual study group

Like you, other students in your class will also have difficulties in the subject and class activities. Even if you barely know them, or don't know them, everyone can help each other in some way. After contacting them, you can hold each other accountable and remind each other about upcoming tasks or video chat to study for an exam.

5.      Talk with your professor

Professors are there to help and they want to hear from you. Shoot your professor an email or schedule an online meeting to talk about your feeling towards this online transition and questions about the subject. But remember that some professors are struggling too. It can be liberating for both parties.

By using these strategies, you can get the most out of your course. Whether you earn your degree in person, online, or a combination of both, take pride in your accomplishment and seek out the new opportunities that await you when you finish!
