· Why did you choose to complete an Internship?
It is a good bridge to gap the educational knowledge gained in the university and applying that knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios. Also, helps a new graduate like me to gain work experience and apply that in finding a job that we desire to continue our journey forward with. Plus, an Internship is a great opportunity to experience and gain more insights on professional behavior, conduct, and being responsible.
· What have you learned the most during your virtual internship?
One of the best things about virtual internships is that they are flexible, I am working from Monday to Thursday. There are a lot of benefits of a remote internship; like saving money and time from traveling, Enhancing your resume (Which plays a great role in showcasing time management and self-discipline), Broaden my cross-culture and global perspectives (Networking in different countries that the Host Org operates in) and Gaining a sense of community and boosting connections. Doing the Internship virtually has helped me in increasing my focus on tasks at hand and being more responsible, better at time management.
· What benefits do you feel AI contributed to your internship and time in Australia?
Because of Visa grant delays during Covid, I, unfortunately, missed the entries into a lot of graduate programs. Luckily, with AI I managed to find an opportunity that fits my interests very well and It has been 7 weeks in my internship so far and I have enjoyed working each and every day of it. Looking forward to another great 4 weeks to finish the internship on a high note.
· What advice would you give to future virtual interns?
I would definitely recommend the future virtual interns to:
Be Proactive;
Focus on Relationships;
Communicate Effectively;
Maintain a checklist;
Breaks and Leaves (Just because no one will know is not a reason not to communicate to your supervisor in advance if you are not available during a certain period of time. They will understand and help you in any way they can), and
Don't be overworked (Find a balance in work and life, communicate with the team if you have too much on your plate, Ask for more time to finish tasks efficiently).
