VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations on taking the first step towards your Hospitality career through the Australian Internships program! Please follow the below instructions to complete your application video.

This application video will allow us to gauge a better understanding of your Hospitality skills which in turn will help us find the most suitable host organisation for you.

It is highly recommended you present yourself, and talk about your education, experience and objectives for the internship in Australia.

PREPARATION:

  1. Record your video via a smartphone/recording device in landscape

  2. Set the phone/recording device up on a stand so that you can speak hands-free

  3. Select an appropriate location - quiet environment & clean background

  4. Dress to impress - wear professional attire

  5. Be prepared and speak clearly - a good idea is to practice first

  6. Look at the camera during your recording

RECORDING LENGTH AND CONTENT:

Videos should be between 1 - 3 minutes in length and follow the below guide for recording. Please find below some tips for recording based on the internship position you are applying for:

food production (culinary)

Record a video of your knife skills and/ or showcase your cooking skills. If you have available – please share YouTube videos of your talents.  Keep the video brief and make sure you are wearing your chef uniform. Include a few short sentences introducing yourself at the beginning of your video. Please find on the left-hand side a sample intern video for your convenience!

Front Office (fo)

If you have a role in Front of House, please send a video dressed for work - 5-star properties expect hair, makeup and clothing to be professional. In your video, please discuss your approach to guest services or any topics illustrating your skills with guests. Please discuss any supervisory roles if they apply.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Ideally, a video of you at a workplace, interacting with customers – showcasing your personality and customer service-oriented approach. If you don’t / cannot provide a video at a workplace, just ensure you are dressed professionally.

 

Please note videos need to be no bigger than 100-150 Mb and need to be saved as a .mov or .Mp4 file before loading to the portal using your Unique ID number. After recording your video, please upload it here.
