Ji Heui Yu - IT (South Korea)· Why did you choose to complete an Internship? After graduating from ANU, I started searching for work. However, I realised I do not have proper professional experience. All the experiences I had gained were school group projects conducted and supervised by exterior clients or lecturers. I had already faced so many failures while searching for work, so I thought, even if I continue searching for work, I will hardly get a chance. So I decided to gain professional experience by doing an internship.
· What have you learned the most during your internship? My objective of the internship was to be exposed to and understanding the working culture in Australia and gain professional skills. Throughout the internship, my supervisor and other seniors have provided me chances to gain various knowledge and skills. They supported me to learn and take the AWS CCP test. After one month of study, I took the test and got certified. I also have challenged a new programming language called React.js. While using this language, I have done a lot of research and questioned quite a lot to seniors. They happily answered the questions and provided me some recommendations on resources. And throughout the internship, I have gained communication skills on how to question and provide a report or make suggestions to the seniors. After a short but long three-month internship, I realised how much I have grown. I believe this is all thanks to the supervisor and seniors with great support!

Sonik Soni - IT Networks and Infrastructure (India)Why did you choose to complete an Internship? I was looking to get myself into the IT industry. I moved to Australia from New Zealand in October 2017. I used to work as Telecommunication Technician back in New Zealand but never worked in the core IT industry although I got my graduate Diploma Degree in Computer Network and System Administration it was hard to get into the IT industry if you are not a PR or Citizen or inexperienced. When I arrived in Australia. I tried my luck to get into the IT industry but unfortunately due to no work experience did not work but in 2020 after losing my full-time work I started again to apply for entry-level IT jobs but due to almost 5 years of gap in my study and not having PR I was struggling. I have almost applied for the 180+ jobs within two months and I got an interview invitation from around 10-15 companies but when it comes to the experience part I was not getting anywhere so finally one of my friends suggested me to get into the internship pathway to earn some real-life experience so this was the reason for me to get into the Internship pathway. Anupama Nagahawatta - IT (Sri Lanka)After working 3 years as a Software Engineer in my home country I moved to Australia to pursue my dream of becoming a Business System Analyst and knew that doing an internship will be the greatest opportunity to pursue my dreams. Past few months have been really challenging for all of us due to the global pandemic. My experience of working in a fresh Software company partnered with Real Estate is quite unique. Through the internship I got the opportunity to learn how the Real Estate market is performing and what agents and tenants expect. As a BSA I was able to improve my skills in planning and writing user stories, writing test scenarios, handling confluence pages, managing communication with my team, planning process flows and swim lane diagrams and how to cope with frequently changing user requirements. Working remotely half way through was quite challenging but, through maintaining frequent communications and engaging actively with the team helped me to overcome the challenges. The offered organization was ideal to start my career as a BSA and the whole team which I belonged to was so supportive and respectful throughout the internship.

Miten Kashiyani - Web Development (India)1. Why did you choose to complete an Internship? Internship is a stepping stone to enter into the world of corporate culture and experience the working culture of the country. From the start of my Master's degree, I decided that I will choose an Internship in the final term. Because Internship comes with a bunch of benefits such as Getting to know the working culture, meeting with people who are working on real projects and understanding of how project is being developed from scratch. For me specifically as a web developer, it is important to work on real project to understand the client's requirements, negotiation and post completion project documentation and presentation. So Internship is the best way to experience the real world project before actually dive into the corporate world market.
